Surinamese Beef Bravoe Soup
Surinamese Bravoe soup is a much loved Creole recipe, a nostalgic dish for many. A beefy broth with dried catfish for umami, root vegetables and okra.
Ingredients
- 500 g Beef or chicken, omit if vegetarian Diced into bite size pieces
- 1 Large Onion Finely Diced
- 6 Cloves Garlic Mashed
- 1 Madame Jeannete Pepper or Scotch Bonnet Diced, leave in or take out seeds depending on how hot you like it.
- 6 Pimento
- 2 Bay Leaves
- 1 tbsp Tomato Puree
- 1 tsp Surinamese Masala Powder
- 50 g Dried Catfish This is added to give the soup the umami flavour but you can always choose to add more if you like.
