Ingredients
  

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 Onion Chopped
  • 3 Garlic Cloves Crushed
  • 1 Large Tomato Chopped
  • 1 tbsp Surinamese Curry Powder
  • tsp White Pepper
  • tsp Chilli Powder (Optional)
  • 500 Grams Deveined Prawns
  • Salt To Taste
  • 1 tsp Tomato Paste
  • 1 cup Water

Instructions
 

  • Cut and dice your onion and tomato. Crush the garlic and leave aside.
  • Heat up your oil on a medium to low fire and add the onion. Once the onions start to brown, add the tomato. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the tomato starts to soften, then add the garlic. Continue to fry for another 2 minutes, and add the tomato paste.
  • Now add the curry powder and the rest of the spices. You may need to add a little extra oil if it starts to dry up. Fry the spices on a low heat for about 4-5 minutes making sure to stir frequently.
  • Add the prawns and salt to taste, continue to fry and stir for 5 minutes. Add 1 cup of water or less depending on how much gravy you'd like. Simmer for another 10 minutes on low heat.
  • Garnish with coriander (optional) and serve with rice or flatbread.
