Germany
Deutschland or Germany, is situated in western Europe and has a population of 83.4 million spread over 357,588 km² of land. Germany also shares their 2,307 miles border with 9 different countries ; France, Luxembourg, Denmark, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Czech Republic, The Netherlands, and Poland. Germany was officially established in 1871 through alliances made by Otto Bismarck. The landscape ranges from mountains, hills, river valleys to flat northern plains. Germany also work very hard to protect their wildlife, with over 97 nature reserves. One of the most famous being the Black Forest.
The Early German Diet
The early German dieted consisted of pottage, meat, fish and beer. Although the Germans are very well known for their beer brewing skills, they did not actually invent it. At the end of the first millennium, monks began brewing beer for the public. This mainly started in the South of Germany, in monasteries like Klosterbrauerei Weltenburg where beer brewing dates back to 1050. Monasteries were not only brewing beer but also produced cheese such , Munster Cheese. Monasteries played a vital role in sustaining their communities.
Germany is also very famous for its sausages! The origins of the first Bratwurst is still highly debated but the earliest Bratwurst recipe dates back to 600 years ago.
