Indian desserts come in all shapes and sizes. There is a sweet dish for every occasion! Traditional sweets tend to symbolize a religious event or festival. As it is believed to be good luck to sweeten ones tongue on auspicious dates and occasions. The occasion can range from weddings to birthdays, or for good luck before an exam!

1. Gulaab Jamun
This dish was introduced to India, when the Mughals invaded the north during the medieval period.

Gajjar Ka Halwa, or Carrot pudding has roots in ancient Indian cuisine. Carrot has a natural sweetness and therefore makes it perfect for dessert.
